ALASKA |
ALASKA is the largest of the 50 States (however, in TEXAS we have a saying about that...."Alaska may be the largest State now, but wait until the ice melts!!!")
As a Texan who has visited Alaska one time I have to concede that Alaska comes close to being as beautiful as Texas (and no Texan is ever prejudiced about Texas. We just make truthful comments when comparing other States to Texas--nope we are always fair. My Daddy used to say, son, never ask a man if he is from Texas. If he is you will know it, and if he isn't it is not polite to embarrass him that way).
On my one trip to Alaska, we were scheduled to fly to Juneau, Alaska, where we had some family business interest at the time. However we wound up spending the night in Anchorage (that's another story--starting with what was going on in Texas at the time). We had a wonderful week or more in Juneau. Well that is more than you wanted in the way of comparison with Texas--on to ALASKA.
My parents, who were Rockhounds, spent summers for a number of years in or near Kobuk, Alaska, sawing slabs of Jade off Jade boulders for some rockhound friends who owned a claim there. As a result, my brother, my sister and I each received a Jade Coffee Table from this beautiful Alaskan Jade. The tables are about 2" thick, by perhaps three feet long and about 14" to 16" wide. That, my friends, is a chunk of Jade.
